Oakland avenue artists coalition

About Us

The Oakland Avenue Artists Coalition (OAAC) is an artistic, educational and civic not for profit organization. OAAC seeks to create a platform for Detroit's multi-generational, creative community in artistic work. OAAC also engages and encourages neighborhood youth in positive self-expression.

OAAC serves as a catalyst for transforming Oakland Avenue into the North End's art corridor that will feature a public art park and continuous performing arts events at varying locations along the corridor.

The coalition promotes urban expression through the performing and visual arts. The connectedness of written and spoken word, visual art and Hip Hop are highlighted as artifacts of healing, community engagement, beautification, opportunities to deconstruct marginalization and as instruments of education in the history of urban expression.
